The Uplifting Makeover, LLC, a home bra fitting company, began in January 2008 by JoAnn Pasell as a way to help educate women on how the proper fitting bra can make them look and feel better about themselves.  She knew from her own experience that finding the right fitting bra at a department store or boutique was challenging because the sales associates were not properly trained in bra fitting techniques, only sales.

As the mother of three young children JoAnn knew that having the time to research how a bra was supposed to look and feel was not realistic.  She herself found it difficult to find the time to go to a local boutique that offered the service.  Her husband purchased a gift certificate for a bra fitting for her for Christmas; six months later she finally found the time to go to the boutique which is 5 minutes from her home. However once she did get fitted she realized that she needed to help other women feel as good as she did in a properly fitted bra.

JoAnn began to research the different facets of the bra, the measuring process and different bra manufacturers to find high quality bras to put the women in once the fitting was complete.  She also wanted to come up with the best venue in which she could begin to provide her service.  She thought “if woman can have jewelry, kitchen gadget and spa parties, why not a girls night out in home bra makeover party?”

After months of research, JoAnn was ready to launch The Uplifting Makeover, LLC.  In January 2008 she held her first girls night out at her home in Westerly, Rhode Island.  She invited her family, friends and co-workers to come over so that she could use them to test the system that she developed for the company.  It was a success; the women were so excited to have their true bra size that they agreed to invite their family, friends and co-workers to their homes for bra parties. 

JoAnn approached her life-long friend Suzanne Gendron who was a marketing executive, to grow the business.  Suzanne became JoAnn’s business partner after she realized how the concept, vision and the ability to help other women through the products and services offered by The Uplifting Makeover, LLC would change how women thought about the bra buying process.

Since partnering together in February 2008, JoAnn and Suzanne have been approached by women from across the country asking if they could host a home bra party, conduct a bra clinic at their organization or to join the company as a consultant. 

Although still a young company JoAnn and Suzanne are working quickly to become the industry’s leading professional bra fitting service.  Working with manufactures and retailers, it is their vision to provide the service across the country in the very near future, because the demand for the service is too great.  

The Uplifting Makeover is unique in the bra industry.  Not many manufacturers offer such extensive training programs and certification processes for their employees.  What JoAnn and Suzanne realized was the massive void in the industry to help women find the correct size bra. We believe that we will change the way the industry thinks about women, their bras and the need behind the sale to put every woman in the correct size bra.

Beyond the bras, The Uplifting Makeover, LLC will provide women across the country with the opportunity to create a career that focuses on helping other women.  Our success will depend on the success of hundreds maybe even thousands of women who will be able to achieve their ultimate goals by becoming consultants with us.  We are looking forward to the journey ahead of us and the opportunities that we will be able to present to ourselves, our families and others.
